Suzuka Sightseeing Overview

Motorsports

Suzuka Circuit image

Suzuka Circuit

Within this enormous 2,050,000m2 recreational area, there is the Motopia Amusement Park, an international racing course, hotels and natural hot springs.

Motopia is a place where even small children can drive on their own, and the array of vehicles the park offers makes it a great place for families to be together.

A wide variety of events have been held on the 5.8km international racing course, which range from the Suzuka F1 Japan Grand Prix and the Eight Hour Endurance World Championship Race to races targeted for beginners.

This course offers plenty of drama for motorsports fans.

The flower and greenery enveloped Flower Garden Hotel is one of the many facilities the resort offers. Other facilities include the natural hot spring Kur Garden, as well as restaurants where you can enjoy different flavors of the world.

Nature

Nature and Leisure

Inside the four kilometer ravine surrounded by Mt. Nonobori (野登山, nonobori-yama), Mt. Senga-dake (仙ヶ岳, sengadake), Mt. Kushiro-dake (宮指路岳, kushirodake), and Mt. Nyudo-gatake (入道ヶ岳, nyudo-gatake), white limestone remains after many months and years of erosion.

"Byobuiwa" (屏風岩)is the natural monument of a sheer cliff that stands like a folding fan.

Cool wind blows from the valley through the campsite surrounded by greenery and clear streams, and there are also great looking mountain houses in the area.

Tsuzumigaura and The Chiyozaki Ocean Swimming Area image

Tsuzumigaura and The Chiyozaki Ocean Swimming Area

Beautiful pine trees on the white, sandy beach and a shallow shoreline makes for a very lively summer ocean swimming season.

It is a beach close to Nagoya, in which many tourists come to visit from the Kansai Area, Chubu, and of course Mie Prefecture.

Industrial arts

Ise Katagami Stencil image

Ise Katagami Stencil

Ise Katagami stencil was originally used for yukata and yuzen dyeing, as well as dyeing fine patterns into the fabric of a kimono.

This paper is a tool of traditional industrial art and part of a long history that we are very proud of. The planned patterns and designs are copied on to "kataji-gami" (processed Japanese paper).

Then, the design is carefully extracted using a small chisel, which means that this advanced level of craft requires a tremendous amount of patience and endurance.

In 1952, this art was designated as an intangible cultural asset by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs, and six experts of this craft were certified as being living national treasures in 1955.

In addition, Ise Katagami stencil and Suzuka-zumi ink materials are on permanent display in the Municipal Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts (伝統産業会館, dentosangyo-kaikan), which is close to the Tsuzumigaura coastline.

Suzuka Ink

The origin of Suzuka-zumi ink is said to date back to the year 780, where the ink was made with soot taken from the burned pine trees that grew in the mountains of Suzuka.

Festival

Suzuka Balloon Festival

This is a festival with variety of multicolored balloons floating in the cloudless, autumn sky.

Also, you will be moved by the magical Balloon Illusion Show held in the evening.

This event will be held at the riversides of the Suzuka River (鈴鹿川河川敷, suzukagawa-kasenshiki) as well as the Suzuka Circuit.
